Last updated September 14, 2026 · We'll update this guide if Selorra shares new information.
If you're reading this, you've probably seen the notice on Selorra's website, or heard it from a friend, and your stomach dropped. Selorra and its sister company Kapturly have announced they are dissolving and stopped operating on September 9, 2026. For couples with a date on the calendar, that means the photo and video team you trusted with your wedding, and possibly money you've already paid, suddenly feels uncertain.
I'm Kim Nguyễn — Kevin Socola — and I've photographed and filmed weddings across DC, Maryland and Virginia for more than ten years. This week I've seen a lot of worried DMV couples asking the same thing: what do we do now? So let me say it plainly first: your wedding is going to be okay. Losing a vendor close to the day is stressful, but it is fixable, and the DMV has a deep community of photographers and videographers ready to help. This guide walks through what to do, in the order it matters.
Key Takeaways
- Selorra LLC and Kapturly LLC ceased operations on September 9, 2026 and won't be covering upcoming weddings
- Already received your gallery or film? Download and back up everything before October 1, 2026
- Still waiting on media, or owed money? Submit Selorra's claim form and keep every receipt. The form doesn't guarantee a refund
- Your assigned photographer or videographer may be able to shoot independently, but only under a new written contract directly with them
- If they can't, you can still rebook, even on short notice. The planning you've already done isn't wasted
What Happened with Selorra
Selorra worked as a photo and video concierge. It matched couples with independent photographers and videographers, handled the booking and payments, and edited much of the work in-house. The creatives who showed up on wedding days were often independent contractors working through Selorra's system.
According to the closure notice on Selorra's website, here is where things stand depending on your situation:
- Your wedding is still coming up: Selorra won't provide photography or videography. It suggests reaching out to your assigned photographer or videographer directly to see whether they can work with you independently
- Your wedding is done, but you haven't received your photos or video: Selorra asks you to fill out its form so it can track your files during the wind-down
- Your wedding is done and your media was delivered: download and back up everything by October 1, 2026. Galleries are generally at selorra.media and videos on Vimeo at vimeo.com/selorra
- Questions about payments, refunds or other claims: Selorra asks you to use the same form, and notes that submitting it does not guarantee a refund, payment, or other resolution
That is our plain-language summary. Please read Selorra's notice yourself for the exact wording. We don't know anything beyond what's public, and we won't speculate about the business. What we can do is help you get your wedding back on track.
Step 1 — Save What You Already Have
If your wedding has already happened and your photos or film were delivered, this step matters most, and it has a deadline. Before October 1, 2026:
- Open your gallery link (usually on selorra.media) and download the full-resolution files, not just favorites or web-size copies
- Download your films from vimeo.com/selorra or the link you were sent
- Keep copies in at least two places, like an external drive and a cloud account (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox)
- If a link is broken or a download won't work, write down what you see and include it in Selorra's form
These are your memories. Please don't wait until the last week.
Step 2 — Document Your Payments and File the Claim
Whether you've paid a deposit or the full balance, get your paper trail together now, while it's fresh:
- Your contract or booking confirmation
- Every receipt, invoice and payment confirmation
- Emails and texts with Selorra and with your assigned creative
- A screenshot of the closure notice, dated
Then submit the form linked from Selorra's notice. A few other things couples in this spot often look into:
- Paid by credit card? Call your card issuer and ask about disputing charges for services that won't be provided. Disputes have time limits, so do it this week, not next month
- Have wedding insurance? Check whether your policy covers vendor failure or a vendor going out of business
- Want to file a complaint? Your state attorney general's consumer protection office takes reports like this
We're wedding photographers, not lawyers. This is general guidance, not legal or financial advice. For a large loss, a short call with a consumer attorney can be worth it.
The money is worth chasing, but don't let it eat the weeks before your wedding. Take care of the paperwork once, then put your energy back into the day itself. — Kim Nguyễn, Kevin Socola Films
Step 3 — Talk to Your Assigned Photographer or Videographer
If you already knew who was going to shoot your wedding, reach out to them directly. That's what Selorra's notice suggests. The upside is real: they may already know your venue, your timeline and your style.
If they can take your wedding on independently, settle these points in writing before you pay anything:
- A new contract directly with them. Your Selorra agreement doesn't carry over
- What you've already paid Selorra vs. what they need from you now. Be open with each other; they may be sorting out their own losses from the closure
- Who edits and delivers. Selorra did editing in-house, so ask who will edit your photos and film now, and how long delivery takes
- Where your gallery will live, and for how long
- A backup plan if they get sick or have an emergency on the day
Some couples will hear "I'm sorry, I can't." Many of these photographers and videographers were counting on Selorra too, and not all of them can take a wedding on alone, especially close to the date. If that's your answer, it isn't a reflection on you. It just means it's time for plan B, and plan B can be wonderful.
Step 4 — Plan Around How Soon Your Wedding Is
How you rebook depends on how many weeks you have. Here is how I'd approach it.
Your wedding is within two weeks
Act today. Call, don't just email. Most photographers can tell you in a few minutes whether your date is open. Ask your planner or venue coordinator who they trust; they often know who's free. If full photo + video coverage isn't available, consider photo-only or video-only for the must-have moments: the ceremony, family portraits, first dance and your exit.
Your wedding is three to eight weeks away
You have time for a real consultation. Talk to two or three photographers or videographers, look at full galleries from real weddings, and aim to sign within about a week so your date doesn't get taken while you decide.
Your wedding is two or more months away (including 2027)
Breathe. You have time to find the right fit, not just whoever is open. Use this moment to rethink what matters most, whether that's an engagement session, a documentary film or more hours of coverage.
What to Ask a Replacement Photographer or Videographer
When you're booking fast, a few questions protect you from a second bad surprise:
- Is my date open for the hours I need? Confirm the exact start and end times
- Can I see full galleries or full films from real weddings, not just highlight reels?
- Is there a written contract listing coverage, deliverables and a delivery timeline?
- What's the backup plan if the lead photographer can't make it?
- Do you shoot with backup gear and cameras that record to two cards at once?
- Have you shot my venue, or a similar one?
- Can I look up your business and read real reviews from real couples?
Unfortunately, moments like this also attract scams. Be careful with anyone who contacts you first in a Facebook group or DM, pushes you to pay immediately, and can't show you a contract, a business name, or reviews you can verify. How Kevin Socola Films Can Help
Yes, we are still booking photography, videography, and photo + video for weddings across DC, Maryland and Virginia, and we'd like to help. Here is what that looks like:
- Tell us it's a Selorra booking. Mention Selorra in your inquiry and we'll check your date first
- Photo, video, or both, from one team. You don't have to coordinate two new vendors while you're already stretched thin
- You don't start over. Send us the timeline, shot list and family list you made. We'll build from what you already planned
- Fast, but not rushed. After a quick call, we send your agreement and deposit invoice online. Your date is locked once both are done
- Clear pricing. Our collections are listed openly on our pricing page, starting at $2,500. If money already paid to Selorra has squeezed your budget, tell us, and we'll talk honestly about what coverage fits
- Experience you can check. 10+ years, 500+ weddings, 5.0★ on Google, and a bilingual English–Vietnamese team
And if your date is already taken on our calendar, we'll tell you right away, so you don't lose a day waiting on us.
Wondering whether you need photo, video or both on a tighter budget? Our guide to photo + video vs. photo-only and our DMV wedding photographer cost guide can help you decide quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Selorra closed?
Yes. According to the notice on Selorra's website, Selorra LLC and Kapturly LLC are dissolving and ceased operations effective September 9, 2026. The company says it will not provide photography or videography for upcoming weddings.
Will I get a refund from Selorra?
Selorra asks couples with payment, refund or undelivered-media questions to submit the form linked in its notice, and says submitting it doesn't guarantee a refund. Keep your contract and receipts. If you paid by credit card, contact your card issuer promptly, and check whether any wedding insurance you have covers vendor failure.
How do I download my Selorra gallery and wedding video?
Selorra's notice says galleries are generally hosted at selorra.media and videos on vimeo.com/selorra, and asks couples to download and back up everything by October 1, 2026. If you can't access media that was already delivered, submit Selorra's form.
Can my Selorra photographer still shoot my wedding?
Possibly. Reach out to them directly. If they agree, sign a new contract directly with them that covers hours, editing, delivery timeline, gallery hosting, and what you still owe.
Can I still find a wedding photographer or videographer in the DMV on short notice?
Yes. Many DMV photographers and videographers still have open dates, especially on weekdays and later in the season. Move quickly, ask to see full galleries, and get a written contract before you pay. We're still booking. Send us your date and mention Selorra.
